A Bali photo tour? Well, it won't be the first Bali photography holiday & workshop, but we certainly intend to make it the best! And with a major award winning photographers like David Lazar leading the way, have you any doubt?!
The Island of the Gods, has long held a place in the imaginations of Westerners as the ultimate exotic paradise. Beautiful maidens, warm & welcoming people, ethereal green rice paddies, majestic volcanoes, lush jungles and tropical beaches dance in our dreams.
What Luminous Journeys has done in raising the photo holiday experience in Myanmar to the next level - we are now bringing to the legendary island paradise of Bali. What we do is team a great local photographer with insider knowledge like the amazing Rarindra Prakarsa, with a great western photographer such as renowned travel shooter and National Geographic contributor, David Lazar. To learn more about your congenial host, David Lazar, please see his ever expandingBiography. Rarindra's Bio. To read photo tour testimonials about David, Go Here.
We come to Indonesia not only for a single Bali photo tour, but to begin opening up the largely untapped and incredibly diverse archipelago to photo enthusiasts the world over.
What makes Bali so different from the rest of Indonesia's thousands of islands, is it's adherence to a distinctly Balinese form of Hinduism. There is a strong animist element, in that gods inhabit every aspect of life. Tens of thousands of temples and places of worship, (including inside every family compound), daily rituals and myriad ceremonies prove their deep devotion. It is this devotion, in the hearts of Balinese, that shines through in their predominantly warm and gentle nature, and the incredible expressions of art that you see virtually everywhere you go. Be sure to bring a big empty suitcase to fill and bring home with you! Despite it's place as the hottest tourist spot in Indonesia, Bali still retains most of it's dream-like beauty, as long as you steer clear of the tourist hordes!
Which is exactly what this Bali photo tour is designed to do. Where tour buses go we sometimes go, but NOT when they go. We will arrive before dawn and will be gone before the bus driver has had his breakfast. And for the most part we will be going to places well off the tourist routes to photograph the real Bali and a few of her neighboring islands - East Java, Menjangan and Lembongan.
Highlights Include: Private Performances of Balinese Fire & Kecak Dances - The Surreal Rice Fields of Jati Luwih - East Java Trek & Shoot of Ijen Volcano & its Otherworldly Sulfer Miners - Exclusive Buffalo Races Action Shoot - Sea Farmers Documentary Shoot - Optional Underwater Photography - Maidens in Paradise Model Shoot
